Stage design, context setting for works related to animals from the Centre Pompidou.

For the first time since its opening, the ‘Galerie des enfants’ presented works selected from the Pompidou Centre’s modern art collection, all with the common theme of animals.

The young public discovered works that are seldom exhibited such as: L’Esturgeon (The Sturgeon) by César, La Vache (The Cow) by Niki de Saint-Phalle, Lalannes’ Moutons (Sheep)and more contemporary ones like Video Fish by Nam June Paik in which real goldfish appear.

The basis for the design was to put the animals in a pastoral setting and to make sure they could be seen from a child’s point of view, kneeling, sitting or tiptoeing.

Seen from across barriers, through holes or from under ground, the art works regained their wild side.
